Life with Artificials
Introducing the 18th Sustainable Development Goal

As advances in artificial intelligence, robotics and biotechnology play an increasingly crucial role in human lives, politics, and economy, the 18th Sustainable Development Goal has been proposed in order to complement the existing 17 SDGs.

Life with Artificials has been identified to address the various challenges that arise as a result of next-generation technologies' growing presence and entanglement in our everyday lives.

"If we promote sustainable tech development with acts of ethics, we can unlock enormous potential for reaching the other 17 Global Goals."

The Targets

Everybody can help make sure we meet the 18th Global Goal. Use these targets to create action to empower people to live sustainable lives with artificials.

PROMOTE HUMAN-CENTRED ARTIFICIALS

Promote the development of Artificials for the common good of humanity, with a respect for human rights, diversity, and the autonomy of individuals, along with their implementation as a means of human empowerment.

ENSURE ETHICAL USE OF ARTIFICIALS

Ensure that all nations, companies, developers, and researchers commit to fostering the highest possible standards of practice working with Artificials and consider the ethical implications of their work.

ENHANCE AWARENESS OF ARTIFICIALS

By 2025, ensure Artificials are easily identifiable when in situations that have a significant impact on human lives.

STRENGTHEN THE SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE

Ensure that advances made in next-generation technologies are publicly accessible, fostering their inclusive and decentralized development.

SECURE RIGHTS TO DATA PRIVACY

Ensure that data acquired from Artificials is protected as to prevent its use in unfair discrimination against individuals, communities, or groups.

ENSURE TRANSPARENCY IN ARTIFICIALS

Adopt measures to ensure Artificials are transparent; ensuring it is always possible to discover how and why Artificials make decisions or operate the way they do.

SUPPORT THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OTHER SDGs

Implement Artificials to make the 17 other SDG more achievable.

ESTABLISH A CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ARTIFICIALS

By 2025, implement both a legal Code of Conduct for Artificials and an oath of ethics for developers, similar to the Hippocratic Oath.

MAINTAIN CONTROL OVER ARTIFICIALS

Ensure individuals and organizations are held legally accountable for their Artificials and any repercussions that arise as a result of their creation.

SECURE A STABLE ENTANGLEMENT BETWEEN HUMANS AND ARTIFICIALS

Significantly enhance education about Artificials to ensure the mental, emotional, and economic stability of all humans as our lives become increasingly entangled with next-generation technologies.

@bit33dotio Undoubtedly, you can get statistics on anything, but at the end of the day, a person is more than just statistics based on their race, hairdress, and facial expressions. Algorithms like these can be powerful tools, but they still need oversight.

A long way to go before Google puts out this fireπŸ”₯ but will be interesting to see what Croak does with her new position overseeing those working on accessibility, AI for social good, algorithmic fairness in health, brain fairness, ethical AI and others.
